Hope on a String is a grassroots nonprofit organization seeking to foster an environment of social transformation and economic development in Haiti through participation in music.

What We Do

We firmly believe in the power of music to bring people together and build the bonds of community. In the context of Haitian culture, the role of music in achieving these goals is particularly strong. As such, we operate a community center in the rural town of Corail, Arcahaie where we run programming consisting of two key initiatives: a Music Engagement Program where people gather to learn, participate, and celebrate through music and Resource Center where our participants receive information, training, and support for targeted development initiatives. In our model, social transformation is catalyzed through community engagement in music and takes shape with empowered individuals collectively addressing the issue areas that are fundamental to Haiti's reconstruction.
