What we need

Our organization has limited capacity in the United States, which has prevented us from pursuing institutional fundraising in the past year. We are eager to develop an institutional fundraising plan and support of a professional will help us make this possible. It will help us reach our ambitious funding goals.  We need the following:

  • Grant template outlining the organization’s mission, strategic plan, activities and budget
  • Tips and suggestions on customizing grant template for specific grants
  • Guidance on how to best represent our organization to attract funders and partners
What we have in place
  • We currently have a dedicated fundraising and operations staff in the US, who will work closely with and support you. We also have a newly completed strategic plan and a library of past grant applications for your reference and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $7,390 , allowing us to provide 4000 nutritious meals to children living with HIV in South Africa.

The success of our organization depends on diversifying and growing our funding. Without your help, we cannot implement an effective institutional grant writing program. Your skills will empower us to establish relationships with institutional funders that will increase our revenue and our organizational sustainability. We have ambitious plans for the next 5 years, including launching new program sites and supporting thousands more children - an effective grant writing program is one of the major ways we can attract the level of funding necessary to make this happen.

Our mission

Ubuntu Africa is dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of HIV-positive children in under-served communities in South Africa by establishing community-based programs that provide lifesaving health and support services. UBA is also committed to fostering an empowered attitude towards HIV/AIDS among young people worldwide and engaging them to participate in improving conditions for people affected by global health challenges.

What we do

South Africa’s HIV/AIDS epidemic has had a devastating impact on children, many of whom are orphaned, living with HIV themselves, and vulnerable to becoming victims of abuse, neglect and bullying.

UNAIDS reports that there are 1.9 million AIDS orphans in South Africa (2010). An estimated 410,000 people under 15 years old were living with HIV in 2012 in South Africa, a figure that more than doubled since 2001, according to UN statistics.

Ubuntu Africa implements a unique and comprehensive model of care for HIV-positive children living in the challenging context of poverty. The program enables over 200 HIV-positive children to overcome multiple challenges that threaten their health and wellbeing by providing services and support in the following interrelated areas:

- Health and Nutrition Services
- Psycho Social Support
- HIV and Life Skills Education
- Community Engagement

Testimonials

(No testimonial has been submitted by Robyn)
I very much enjoyed working with Ubuntu Africa. The work was interesting and the staff made an effort to work with me as a colleague and peer. Ubuntu is dedicated to creating a volunteer experience that is a two way street and contributes in a meaningful way to the professional goals of their volunteers. A very special group!
