Program Assessment
Program Assessment
Project details
What we need
- Detailed evaluation of a particular program, measured outcomes, and its impact on Organizational goals
- Recommendations for areas of improvement in program delivery including allocation of resources
What we have in place
- We already have follow-up surveys in place for grant recipients, and a template for post-webinar surveys for the online program. All our data is imported into an SPSS database for analysis. Surveys themselves are in the Polldaddy for Formstack platforms.
How this will help
This project will save us $7,888 , allowing us to allocate 3 grants for rental assistance to young adult survivors this coming grant cycle.
This project is the first step in establishing a more systematic evaluation plan. Our grants program has existed now for over a decade and we have reasonably good data showing changes to recipients' personal, professional and educational situations. However, not only could we improve measurement in these areas, but we also need help with being able to track and measure outcomes for our online programs to ensure their continued improvement and success. We aim to reach as much of the young adult survivor community as possible through these programs, and to be able to illustrate our impact more effectively.

Our mission
The Samfund is designed to help young adults recover from the financial impact of cancer treatment.
What we do
The Samfund currently provides three programs to help young adults get back on their feet after treatment:
1. Direct financial assistance: since 2005, close to $1.5 million in grants has been awarded to young adults across the country, covering a wide range of needs including living expenses, medical expenses, mental and physical health and wellness, family-building, and many more.
2. Online support: The Samfund hosts a free Webinar series called "Moving Forward With Your Financial Health," designed to provide concrete and reliable information and resources surrounding a range of practical and financial issues, including employment, insurance, medical debt and more. Webinar presentations are made by financial professionals as well as representatives from other cancer organizations.
3. Finances 101: A toolkit for young adults with cancer: Launched at the end of 2014, this new program is designed to help young adults make better-informed financial decisions during and after cancer treatment so that their financial recovery doesn't become a lifelong struggle. The toolkit is currently comprised of blog posts and Webinars on selected topics, and we are currently in the process of designing an interactive decision-making tool that will be housed on our website.
Through these programs, The Samfund helps young adults get back on their feet so that they can move forward towards their goals.

Testimonials
Working with Morgan was a terrific experience. He really understood our mission and what we needed from the get-go. He built on our existing tool to create an instrument that's incredibly comprehensive, will enable us to share our impact more effectively, and that we will be able to use for years to come.
Michelle was great to work with! She knew what she wanted but was also open to hearing my ideas about how to achieve it. We were able to work together to produce a very high quality final product that we could both be proud of!
