Project details

What we need
  • A concise, well-articulated letter (not exceeding two pages) to request funds from individual donors
What we have in place
  • We currently have previous letters, as well as Facebook, Trip Adviser reviews, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have significant archives of pictures, marketing materials, and an online presence, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $2,140 , allowing us to redirect resources to help fund school trips from under-served schools in southern New Jersey.

We are looking to freshen up our annual giving campaign letter. The Giving Campaign focuses on our educational outreach programs. These include in person visits to classrooms, distance learning programs and school and camp field trips. We want to include more stories about what we do, told from the perspective of visitors through comments and reviews from surveys and travel sites. We feel this will give our donors a new perspective on why continued support is important when they hear directly from the people who our programs impact in the community. This project will help increase donors.

Our mission

Historic Cold Spring Village is a non-profit educational institution established as an Early American open-air living history museum. Its purpose is three-fold: historic preservation, history education and heritage tourism. This is accomplished by promoting New Jersey history through extensive programs utilizing the architecture, lifestyles, arts, history and culture found in a rural South Jersey village during the early to mid-19th century. The Village endeavors to provide visitors with an understanding of their cultural heritage through a personal encounter with the past.

What we do

We are an open air living history museum consisting of 27 historic buildings including homes, shops, barns and a one room schoolhouse. The buildings were moved here from around Cape May and Cumberland Counties to recreate village life in rural Southern New Jersey from around 1789 to 1840. The Village is located on 30 acres including a working organic farm. During the summer months, historically clothed interpreters demonstrate Early American trades and crafts including blacksmithing, pottery, printing, basket weaving, and more. In the off-season we work with schools from around New Jersey and the rest of the United States providing field trips and distance learning opportunities for students of all age groups.
